Wooden Stacking Game Regarded As Fundamental Childhood Developmental Tool

By Odessa Edwards

Small children often play with a wooden stacking game because it is fun and amusing. Parents also encourage this toy because it improves a child's mental ability in terms of creativity and fine motor skills. Games such as this one are considered to be very important within a child's early years of development. Blocks in particular, are also wonderful as they can be played with on the floor, and spread out in any way that is pleasing to the child.

These particular toys are ideal for kids who vary in age from two(2) to four(4) years old and above. Children in this age bracket tend to plant all kinds of things in their mouths so parents should essentially keep a watchful eye and monitor what is consumed. Parents also need to supervise the size of the blocks used as very small blocks could create hazardous situations such as a child swallowing or choking on a block. Sizable blocks are safer options. Wood, a natural organic material, is an alternative option compared to plastic, which has various harmful chemicals.

Toys are usually decorated in various ways. They could be of a natural or painted variety. Those that are painted could possibly cause nasal irritation to the child, especially if they are covered with oil-based paints. Remember as well, that paint could come off when the toy has been used quite often. There are no sharp edges on the usual things that are made for stacking purposes, which is an added advantage.

Block toys promote co-ordination for babies and toddlers, between their eyes and their hands. They directly process and visualize information guiding their hands to the object in front of them. Wooden toys are therefore the perfect visual accompaniment for them. The finishing coat of color on a toy is an important consideration as it creates excitement and aids the toddler or baby in its decision as to which blocks will be utilized to create a single object.

Colored blocks can also be used to teach the different colors to a baby. They usually have bright, attractive colors which are easy to recognize. You can play color matching games to assist with visual memory and color differentiation.

Going for or choosing sets of toys in five or more different sizes will assist the child in identifying and distinguishing the various dimensions, which is a great and important developmental tool. Children find it easier to sort the blocks into various shapes and colors if there are more sizes to choose from. This will assist the child in his or her developmental growth.

Direct hand games or activities are excellent early childhood development games. This kind of activity creates a culture of curiosity, entertaining and enhancing creativity that can only benefit latter motor development. Sense of touch is a crucial developmental skill and the earlier it develops the more improved his motor skills will be. This is geared towards sense of sight and critical thinking which will boost creativity and ingenuity.

A wooden stacking game is a 'must' for every child. They are not usually very expensive, but regardless of their price, will be a valuable investment; a toy that will be played with for years, and that is educational. Baby stores online and offline sell a huge variety of games like these that promote good all-round progress in your child's abilities.
