Steps On How To Clean A Wetsuit

Surfers engage in various sporting activities and adventures and the surfing gear plays an important role during these activities. This gear is quite costly and it is therefore important to ensure they are well taken care of to make sure that they can be used for a long time. Various measures are taken to ensure their quality is upheld and learning how to clean a wetsuit which plays a major role of good maintenance has become necessary.

The procedure of washing the gear is simple and it is possible to be done from the homes or they can be taken to the laundry for specialized services. Hand washing of mostly preferred because it does not destroy the fabric and because they are very soft. However, washing machines can also be used especially at the laundry places where a small fee is charged for this service.

When washing, the cloth is first passed through cold water which is sprayed to it using a horse pipe. This is aimed at removing all the solid materials that could have been embedded in the cloth during the activities. The water also dissolved the salts and sweat that are within the fabrics. This procedure is very important as it helps to prevent blocking of the washing machines by the dirt particles if they are not washed off early.

Soaking in cold water is done to weaken the sticky dirt patches such as sweat which makes washing after some time very easy. Washing conditioners are very essential in this stage because they help improve the quality of fabrics hence making the cloth to look brilliant and last long. The conditioners are added to the water and allowed some minutes so that they can be effective. These conditioners act as a disinfectant to the clothes by killing the germs present.

Soap and other non-bleaching detergents are then used to do the rest of the washing. Smooth scrubbers can be used to rub the cloth gently over and over again until the entire cloth is free from any form of dirt. The clothes are then put in a bucket of clean water where they are thoroughly rinsed to get rid of excess soap and any other undesired materials are ready for drying.

Wet suits must be properly handled once they are neat and good drying conditions should be provided. They should be hung using hangers to ensure they don not fold since ironing cannot be done on them. They hanging site ought to be established in an area that is not subject to direct sunlight which is not preferred since it lowers the quality of the fabrics. This ensures the clothes stay in good condition over a long period of time.

There are advisable practices that are recommendable during the washing of such clothes. Hot water is highly discouraged since it causes stretching of a wetsuit fabrics which results in the loss of shape of a cloth. Direct sunlight and use of drying machines should also be avoided to ensure protection of the fabrics as well.

Cleaning is very important and should be carried out often to ensure the clothes remain in good condition. It is therefore advisable to follow the correct order during washing. This will result in properly maintaining the good aspects of the sporting gear.
