The History Of Professional Wrestling On Earth

By Eugenia Dickerson

The history of professional wrestling is quite long as documented in certain ancient scripts or literary references. Professional fighting changed slowly to what it is currently. At the moment professional wrestling is a life time work unlike in ancient days when it was considered a leisure activity. Wrestling was a recreational activity in many communities. It was a significant part of many festivals and rites including initiation.

Cave depictions found in nations like Egypt, Babylon, and France are trace back in the 13th century. The drawings revealed many holds in use in current sport. It was a rich source of entertainment for a number of royal families including paramount chiefs, kings, princesses, and queens. During those days fighters fought fellow wrestlers and sometimes animals like aggressive bulls.

The outcomes of current staged combat or wrestling are predetermined unlike before. Most competitions are organized by bodies such as International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles abbreviated as FILA and World Wrestling Entertainment shortened as WWE. These bodies comprise of technical teams whose job is creativity. They create and develop dramatic stories like feuds among fighters in order to make the matches interesting and leaving viewers in suspense to encourage watching.

Professional fighting in certain nations such as Mexico and Japan do not comply with a given predestined plot. The bouts are actual competitions without prearranged outcomes or results. Bouts in such nations are livelier because fighters have the choice of using all tactics including submission grasps and martial art strikes. This makes the bouts unsafe because wrestlers are prone to picking injuries or getting hurt.

One way of reducing cases of injury in this sport is passing laws that require wrestlers to put a protective gear before stepping in the ring. The protective gears may include masks and hand gloves. The masks must have an inner layer of sponges or cushions for protection against the impact of blows. It also reduces chances of wrestlers sustaining basilar skull fracture.

The current and modified rules emphasize on skills rather than physical strength. Winning is based on the number of times that the wrestler will pin their opponent on the mat. This game is for both genders. Some of the techniques used in this sport are taught to members of the military and police as part of training. The skills acquired give them a better chance against their opponents in case of self defense.

Professional fighting has many ranks that wrestlers struggle to achieve. Every rank is signified by some form of belt that is given to the champion. Wrestling is well-known around the globe as it features amongst Olympic Games. During such bouts wrestlers of all levels and ages are included and the champions of each category are rewarded by the concerned bodies.

The history of professional wrestling includes revolution and introduction of new styles and laws in combat sport. As a form of combat sport it involves grappling techniques like takedowns, pins, grappling holds, clinch fighting, and joint locks. Historic, traditional and current styles are allowed in certain categories where the rules allow. This sport borrows greatly from martial art. It allows partnership between wrestlers in certain categories.
